Machine installation
-
The location where you choose to install your system must be accessible to facilitate hay handling, of course. You will also need to consider the surrounding dust. For example, locations such as near a hay chute located in the ceiling of a barn or too close to a dusty arena could prove unsuitable. This type of volatile dust could contaminate hay that has already been reprocessed.
-
The electrical connection must be carried out by a professional. A 20-amp circuit breaker and 220-volt current are required.
Hay and oil
-
The hay used in the Nutri-Foin system is the same hay you are currently using. You can use hay baled into small square bales, round bales, or large square bales. The important thing is not to overload the machine; a total weight of approximately 45 pounds, or 20 kg, is the maximum recommended.
-
As for the oil, we recommend the one offered by Nutri-foin Système. This was specially developed in collaboration with veterinarians who conducted clinical research on the effectiveness of Nutri-foin on asthmatic horses. Among other things, it is added vitamin E and Omega 6 and 3 which have anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant properties which helps reduce swelling in the horse's respiratory system and helps preserve the hay over a longer period of time.
-
It is cold pressed, 100% natural and has not undergone any chemical treatment.
-
On the other hand, any other vegetable oil without negative effects on the health of horses can be used.

Adjusting the knives and locking blade
The unit is designed to allow the angle of the knives and the locking blade to be adjusted according to the user's needs. Adjustments should be made according to the type of hay being used. Therefore, adjustments may need to be changed when changing hay.
However, it should be noted that most owners rarely or never adjust these components.
Generally speaking, the softer and thinner the hay, the more the knives should be positioned parallel to the auger, and the more fibrous and coarse the hay, the more perpendicular they should be.
How long do I let the system run?
On average, 9 to 13 minutes, depending on the hay and needs.
With a built-in timer, you start the system and it automatically turns off. So you can go about other activities without worrying about having to turn it off.
